BP 10% 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hi
I prescribed 10% BP to a male client who has acne on his chest/back. After using the BP he gets a rash on the surrounding areas not where he applies the BP its quite itchy/red and will die down if he discontues using his BP, the problem then is the acne will return. He is also using the Acne Wash as a body wash which he has no problem with. Any suggestions?

HI Elainecorr,

I hope you're having a great day and thank you for your enquiry.

Regarding your client, is he on any professional treatments?
If no, I would recommend you putting him on a course of 6-12 treatments, depending on his condition.

It sounds like the skin is very weak, and this may be the reason why the skin gets a bit irritated every time he uses the BP 10%.

I would recommend him having a few enzymes to strenghten the skin first, then introduce alkaline wash treatment a bit later on as it kills the bacteria in the area by bringing the pH to 12.

Product wise I would recommend him going back to BP 5%, but this will be after the skin calms down. Also you can prescribe him moisture balancer to use as a daily moisturiser.

Also you'll need to find out if your client is on medication as this may affect the skin's reaction.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Regards,
Amy

Hi Amy
Thank you so much for your quick reply(another reason why i love Danne)my client has had great results from my using Alkaline Wash/Enzyme treatments on his skin and he also has a full home prescription which is Alkaline Wash/Betagel/10%BP/Acne Cream and also Acne gel for those persistent spots i also adviced him to use Betagen as well which he said is his favourite cream and he also uses as an after shave balm and said it works brilliant on his skin stops any irritation after shaving calms his skin!! (maybe another use for Betagen Cream) and hes delighted with his own result i have photo evidance of all his treatments which if you want i will send to you, i will try him on the 5% he himself is just afraid that if he stops with the 10% that his acne may occur ive assured him that if he keeps up with his home care/enzyme treatments this may not happen. Sorry about the long mail thank you once again for the advice and i will try him on the 5% i will also advice Moisture balance.

Regards
Elaine:)

HI Elainecorr,

Great to hear your client is on the full home prescription. Just one thing, you said he uses Alkaline wash at home, do you mean 'acne wash'?

Another great product he must use would be the direct delivery vitamin c serum. This helps the skin to heal, improve the capillary network as well as brightening.

Please rest assure the 5%BP will still do its job. He needs to understand the skin is under attack at the moment, and this is why you have prescribe him BP in the first place. Once his skin heals and strengthens, this problem should not come back, or not come back as severe.

Good luck and please let me know if I can assist you any further~

Regards,
Amy
